Duke can materialize shadowy circles that are primarily used to absorb the fear in other beings. They're a strange extension of himself and appear to weigh nothing at all. It's nearly impossible to hit the spots physically unless there is a concentrated amount of them in one place. However, they can be harmed by magic or other forms of energy. Harming his spots also harms him and the further away his spots are from his body, the more energy he has to put into sustaining them.
When he 'feeds' with the spots, they absorb fear, but don't usually harm the person physically in any way (unless harm is intended.) In small amounts, these spots will agitate someone, causing slight paranoia and uneasiness. However, in larger quantities, Duke's spots can swarm a target, overpowering someone with their fears. Hallucinations are common when someone is attacked. If exposed to the spots for a prolonged time, others may temporarily- or permanently- go insane. That's why he usually feeds on nearby sleeping people or animals in small amounts, as it will just seem like part of the dream they're having. Duke himself can not see what someone is seeing while they're hallucinating or dreaming.
Aside from the spots being used to feed and inflict fears, they can also be used in dark corners as camouflage as well as eavesdrop by sliding under doors, through cracks, and small holes. While he can't exactly "see" with them, Duke can hear and sense things.
He can also interact with his own spots. If there are enough of them, Duke can stand on them and float, or shape them into wings to bring himself up into the air. If he hasn't fed recently, he won't be able to fly or float for very long. However, due to the nature of his spots, use of his spots for transportation is nearly impossible due to their fear-leaching qualities.
